My jaws/muscles feel sore

This can be experienced with most types of brace treatment but is commonest in functional brace wearers. The muscles usually get sore because the bite is changing.

Applying warmth to the sides of the face will help ease the tension and discomfort. A warm water bottle wrapped in a tea towel should be used. Do not use hot water in the water bottle! Apply to each side of the face for 10 to 20 minutes around 3 times per day.

Discomfort seldom lasts for more than a few days. It may also be helpful to limit your diet to soft, easy to chew foods for those few days.

Do not remove the brace in the hope that it will be easier for you. The relief will only be temporary as you will have to start wearing the brace again and the discomfort will begin again.
