Acrylic from my brace has fractured
If a small part of the acrylic (plastic) has come away, you should try to continue to wear the brace if it is possible. If the brace has broken into two large parts it can usually still be work .
If the brace is broken into lots of small pieces do not wear it.
If the fractured area is excessively sharp, you can use an emery board or nail file to smooth the sharp area as shown. If you are unsure, you should contact the practice.
If you are wearing clear braces, you should go to the next aligner/positioner in the sequence. If you do not have this, go to the previous aligner that you were wearing before this one fractured. Contact the practice for advice.
Depending on where the fracture has occurred and how much has come away, we may have to see you sooner. Contact the practice for advice, and if necessary, an earlier appointment.
